Melanie MacLaren—Bloodlust

I love this EP. I listen to a lot of music, but there's something about the opening track Bloodlust that captured me. It's almost a feeling of déjà vu, where I feel I've experienced the song many times before, as I almost knew what was coming before it was delivered. Now, I'm not talking a tale of plagiarism or plunder, but it's that feeling you get when something just resonates with you. Maybe it's the country vibe, but I enjoyed it all the same.

Get it Back is much more country, which I have to admit I'm usually not a huge fan of, but I think I'm already won over by Melanie's voice. Next up is Laika, which for me is the standout track. Simple acoustics, with a hint of slide guitar? But it's that voice. Simple. Delicate. Emotive. Beautiful.

The EP rounds off with Heaven Is, a much darker tone, but I love the lyrics. In the US, heaven may be a hot-dog when you're drunk, but being from the UK, for me it's more a kebab, but I can certainly understand the sentiment.

A great EP and I'm hungry for more. Looking forward to an album, hopefully in the near future.
